Publishing legend Men’s Health conceived of service journalism that spoke in a jocular tone to ordinary guys like a trusted, non-judgmental pal, enabling men to make intelligent, informed lifestyle choices concerning their well-being. Growing to over 40 international editions, it changed the game and shifted the paradigm of male identity in popular culture. I was instrumental at its inception and through several subsequent iterations, most notably the Introduction of celebrity covers, which elevated the brand to an entirely new pantheon. Later, the core team of David Zinczenko, Stephen Perrine, and myself revamped cross-town challenger, Men’s Fitness, which garnered awards including Best Relaunch and Magazine of the Year by Adweek and Advertising Age following a total redesign implemented over a single production cycle, an unheard of feat in the industry.
